Hosting a going away party
Published about 2 months agoย โขย 1 min read
A coworker of mine is leaving the company I work at next week
It was quite a bit shocking for us as a team. This guy has become a wonderful part of our day-to-day and made the general work environment better.
So after the initial shock, my co-worker Charlotte started talking to me on Teams a bit later. โ
Hey Mauro, how you doing?
I heard about the Brian thing. Super sad ๐ฟ
Heyoo Charlie! Yeaah, it stung to hear
๐ฟ
But it's for the best! So we'll support him!! โ
Absolutely! He's going to get the bigger bucks now ๐ธ๐ธ๐ธ โ
hahahha
You know what we should do?
You already read my mind.
LET'S THROW A PARTY!!!
A crazy, off the walls, going away a party!
"You know what? Forget the blackjack"
Okay, maybe we'll tone it down without all that and just have it at a bar after work. It'll be an after-work farewell party! And we'll invite the whole team and anybody else our guy wants.
On a call with Charlie, we started talking about the logistics of who on our team could go (since we all work remotely) and when's the best day to do it. But then, I remembered...
Wait, we should probably let the guy who's leaving in on this and see when and where is the best for HIM ๐
So, after adding him to our call, we were happy to hear he was in LOVE with the idea, and it felt like a great send-off.
Over the years of working in the same company, I somehow got more and more involved in bringing up the idea of and even organizing parties with our team. I don't usually even like hosting parties in other contexts, but the people on our team have always lent themselves to making them fun. When there's great synergy, it's great to make the most of it by creating those events. So, if you're lucky enough to be in a team like that, make the most out of it.
P.S.
Things have gotten really hectic and busy lately! Plus I'm going on vacation soon, so until further notice, there will be only one email a week.
This also gives me more time to dedicate to marketing this newsletter, so remember to follow me on Linkedin and Bluesky if you haven't already!
